What is UnBought and UnBossed?

UnBought and UnBossed is more than just an event; it’s a tribute to the spirit and determination of late Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm, who was the first African American woman elected to Congress in 1968 and the first woman and African American to seek the democratic party nomination for President of the United States in 1972. Chisholm declared herself a representative of all people and was committed to serving as a leader who would remain “Unbought and Unbossed.”
