Chattanooga’s Trinity Williams Named 2024 Girls Inc. National Scholar
Trinity Williams, a Girls Inc. of Chattanooga alumna now studying at Howard University, has been named a 2024 Girls Inc. National Scholar and awarded the $25,000 Suzanne Patmore Gibbs Courage Scholarship, one of the organization’s highest honors.
Trinity was selected for her outstanding academic achievement, community service, and dedication to the Girls Inc. mission of inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Of the girls considered for the Suzanne Patmore Gibbs Scholarship across the United States and Canada, Trinity was one of only three chosen as a National Scholar in 2024, a distinction that reflects years of consistent leadership, service, and academic excellence.
A graduate of Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, Trinity’s connection to Girls Inc. of Chattanooga runs deep. She has been part of the organization since first grade, growing up through seasonal camps and programs including IMPACT and SHE, She Can, She Will. Her involvement expanded beyond the local chapter when she was selected to serve on the Girls Inc. National Teen Advocacy Council’s 7th cohort, giving her a platform to advocate for girls on a national stage.
Trinity’s list of accomplishments reflects the same drive and determination the scholarship was created to recognize. She logged 245.75 hours of community service, all while balancing a demanding roster of leadership roles: she served as a Girl Scouts Ambassador, was active in her school’s Student Government Association, co-founded and served as President of her school’s Black Student Association, and took part in the National Urban League Youth Council and the Urban League of Greater Chattanooga’s Project Ready. On top of it all, she competed on her school’s Varsity Volleyball team.
The Suzanne Patmore Gibbs Scholarship was established in 2018 in honor of a longtime Girls Inc. supporter recognized for her courage and her advocacy for women’s voices. Each year, it’s awarded to a girl who embodies that same bravery, passion, and determination to dream big and stand up for what’s right, qualities that Trinity has demonstrated throughout her years with Girls Inc. of Chattanooga.
As she continues her studies at Howard University, Trinity carries forward a legacy she helped build long before she ever knew she’d be named a National Scholar: proof of what’s possible when a girl is given the space, support, and belief to become exactly who she’s meant to be.
