A Place Where They Are Seen: One Family’s Girls Inc. Story
Meet Tiffaney, a Girls Inc. parent to her three strong, smart, and bold daughters. Girls Inc. of Chattanooga has become a second home, a source of confidence, and the setting for some of her family’s proudest memories.
“When my daughters walk through the doors of Girls Inc., they know they are stepping into a place where they are safe, encouraged, and believed in,” she says.
That sense of security matters most during the summer, when she’s at work and her girls need somewhere to be cared for and truly invested in. “Girls Inc. has given them a space filled with laughter, learning, and care,” she explains. Their summer teacher, in particular, left a lasting mark. “Their summer teacher became a role model, someone who saw their potential and reminded them daily that they could do anything they set their minds to.”
Beyond the classroom, the Girls Inc. of Chattanooga Family Resource Center has quietly woven itself into the fabric of everyday family life. Tiffaney recalls her daughter Katie still talking about the day she found her favorite pair of tennis shoes there. All three girls, she says, “were thrilled to pick out shorts, sandals for church, and even clip-on earrings they still proudly wear.”
Small as these moments may seem, their impact has been anything but. “Those small moments made them feel seen and valued,” she says.
One memory stands above the rest. When Katie entered the Girls Inc. essay contest, she poured everything she had into it. “She spent over three hours writing her heart out,” Tiffaney recalls, and that dedication paid off in an unforgettable way: a full Dream Room Transformation.
Katie chose a Disney Princess theme, and alongside her twin sister, watched the room come together piece by piece. “Their new bedroom was a symbol of what happens when hard work meets opportunity and support,” Tiffaney reflects.
Looking back on everything Girls Inc. has meant to her family, this parent sums it up simply: “Girls Inc. has given my family more than resources or programs; it has given my daughters confidence, joy, and a community that believes in them.”
And that belief, she says, is already shaping who her daughters are becoming: girls who know, in her words, that they “really can be strong, smart, and bold.”
